Day 4 and 5 of Our Journey

We learned that our family doesn't share time in a hotel together as well as we do in a car. Kyle still wakes up a couple times at night (plus he caught another cold and was fussy) so he woke up everyone else throughout the night. The girls slept in and we got off to a late start each day (either at 10:30 or 11:30 am). Thankfully we travelled so far the third day we could afford shorter days on the last two. We drove about six hours each day with dinner as our last stop.  Derek did all the driving!

The kids continued to do well on each day. Karis spent most of her time drawing and watching TV and Makena played quietly with all of her new toys. Kyle was easily entertained but so happy whenever he got to be out of his seat.

One day we even found a rest area with a playground! On our last day, we went off the beaten path a little and found a local restaurant. The food was good and everyone was so friendly. One of the gifts the girls received was lip gloss. They were so excited since they always want to put some on and I rarely let them and now they had some of their very own. Upon entering the restaurant, Karis stopped at each table to tell them she had lip gloss. Everyone showed excitement for her and were so kind.
