Time For A Vacation!

I can't believe it's already July! We are off to New York on Wednesday. We're looking forward to catching up with some friends and eating good food! At the end of the week, we'll be meeting up with my sister and her family. We'll be spending a week at a beach house on the New Jersey shore. We're looking forward to the time away! We'll post some pics upon our return.

Derek is busy this week at work trying to finish things up and putting things in place so things will run smoothely in his absence. I've been busy doing laundry, making a packing list and baking some snacks for our trip.

Quick update on baby Robinson. The baby is about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces.

I'm starting to get more energy! I don't feel so drowsy and wiped out all day. Looking forward to our next doctor's apointment in three weeks.

Our Birthdays

For my birthday, I requested an ice cream cake. Derek got a Carvel cake and wrote his own inscription. Not bad!

For Derek's birthday, he requested a fresh fruit tart. It's one of his favorite desserts that I (rarely) make for him. I asked him if he wanted to take it to work on Thursday to share with his co-workers. He said, "no." I asked him if he wanted to share it with our dinner guest on Wednesday night. He said, "no." He wanted it all to himself. He barely let me have a piece...

We also had red velvet cupcakes at small group since that's where we were the night of his birthday.

2nd Anniversary Celebration

Derek and I had dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. It was my first time there so I was very excited. We took advantage of their Summer Celebration special. Basically, lots of food for two for $89. I had the grilled shrimp and Derek had a trio of a small filet, stuffed chicken and a crab cake. We also had appetizers, sides and a dessert. Yum!

During dinner, we talked a little about how we're doing on the five purposes of marriage. We couldn't quite remember all five of them, but we definitely want to be more intentional about spending more time together in the Word and in prayer. We were pretty good about that in the first year, but it somehow has weakened in the past year. Hopefully by our next anniversary we can look back at a year of lots of prayer and spiritual connectedness to one another.

When we got home from dinner, we changed into some shorts and went for a walk. Hopefully that will be a new habit of ours. Derek has been pushing for me to take daily walks to keep my body strong and healthy during the pregnancy.

SUMMER FUN!

Dad came out for a two-week visit. We celebrated our birthdays with dinner at Julie's house one night (a Thai feast with Carvel cake) and another night we went to a Korean restaurant and Mocchilato afterwards. Good food all around! It was fun introducing the boys to Mocchilato. We were glad they liked it since we convinced them to turn down Coldstone for it!

The family also came over on Saturday for lunch. We ordered Celinda's and ate at our place. We also hung out at the pool which was a nice relief from the heat wave we were experiencing. The boys and even Jessi love being in the water.

Our place feels so different when we have five little kids. Crumbs, plastic spoons, and cups are everywhere. I guess we need to get used to it!

Follow Up From Sequential Scan

The doctor called to let us know that everything looked "perfectly normal." Praise God!

That little bugger...!!!

Our little baby girl (a 75% certainty from what the ultrasound tech said from what she could not see) was already being a handful and she is not even born yet! They were trying to capture a profile and she would not cooperate. She's stubborn and independent like her mom and Robinson aunts.

This visit was more meaningful to me. I felt that way even before they speculated on the gender. I don't know why. I guess I'm starting my male nesting early. =)

13-Week Ultrasound

We had an appointment today for our sequential screen/1st trimester scan. The baby's size and heartbeat were both deemed as "good" and right on track with our expected due date. Initial diagnosis was that our baby does not have a chance of having down syndrome or other genetic birth defects. We'll get official results in about one week.

From what the doctor could see, there were no signs yet of "boy" parts. She said that there's a 3 out of 4 chance that the baby will be a girl. We'll go back for another ultrasound in 6 weeks and we'll know for sure. Hopefully our late blooming boy will have developed his parts by then! =)

Week 11

The baby is now 1 1/2 inches long and the size of a fig.

Things have been going well since our first visit to the doctor. Seeing the ultrasound made it more real and also gave us assurance that the baby is doing well.

My morning sickness subsided about a week and a half ago. I no longer get nauseous, but I get plenty of headaches. I'm also more tired and sleepy than ever. Still not sleeping through the night with at least one bathroom trip a night. It's already tough to find a sleeping position, especially since I typically fall asleep on my stomach.

We've been slowly sharing with our friends that we're pregnant. It's been fun seeing their excitement for us.

I can't believe we're finally nearing the end of the 1st trimester. I'm excited for our next appointment in two weeks!
