A Whole Lot of Lovin' Goin' On

Maybe a little too much...

We're thinking of hiring a personal bodyguard for Makena.

Daddy's little helper

Karis has been quite a helpful big sister to Makena. But, she's also turning out to be pretty helpful to Mommy and Daddy, too. Here's a quick video of one of the ways she regularly helps Daddy.

Karis says, "Mom, Makena is crying"

Well, not in those words but when I see this face that's what she's telling me.

Whenever she hears Makena crying, she'll make that face and point upstairs. I'll say, "Uh oh, baby's crying. Let's go!" and take her upstairs with me. She gets so excited to go see Makena.

Makena at 7 weeks

Grandpa asked why all of our pictures are of Karis and requested some of Makena. I guess I haven't taken a lot of photos of Makena because she still sleeps most of the day away. Here are some pics of Makena in the morning when she is the most awake and full of smiles (but I couldn't capture one today).

It Makes Me Smile

Every mom knows that moment when they're in the middle of doing something at home and she notices that it's quiet in the house. Her heart stops because she knows that the quiet isn't good and for sure her child is up to no good.

I've been having those moments quite often, especially with the busyness of my days. When I realize that I don't hear Karis playing with a toy and she's not by my side, I think,"uh-oh" and I go looking for her. When I turn the corner to see what she's up to, to my delight, this is often what I see:

I love it and it makes me smile! She's been so into her books and loves to look at them. She finds lots of ways to keep herself busy. I feel bad that I haven't been able to spend as much time with her during the day. There are definitely times when she is needing attention, but there are also times when she's pretty content playing by herself. I'm thankful for that because it relieves some of the guilt I have for not giving her more undivided attetion!
