"I now pronounce you husband and wife!"

 Now as a licensed pastor, Derek has the privilege of marrying people.  He did his first one on June 23. A friend of his was supposed to marry them, but since he was not able, Derek stepped in.  Derek did not know the couple personally, but they are part of our church family.

The wedding took place on a boat in Newport Beach.  The couple kindly invited me to the wedding, so Kyle and I tagged along.  Derek enjoyed our company during the reception since he didn't know anyone at the wedding (since it was on a boat, he couldn't leave after the ceremony).  

I missed about half the ceremony since Kyle got hungry, but from what I could tell, Derek did a great job.  I heard many people giving him compliments about the words he shared.
