Class Valentine's Day Parties

Here are a few pics of the kids' Valentine's Day parties. With three kids in school, Derek and I have to do some tag teaming on days of class parties.

Kyle Turns 4!

Kyle was so excited to turn 4! He started the day with some chocolate chip pancakes.

This was the first year Kyle wanted a party. After seeing all the gifts Makena received for her party, he wanted one too! We planned a party at the park. The forecast called for a chance of thunderstorms but thankfully the rain held off. But it was just unusually cold and windy.   

The cold didn't bother the kids and they all had a great time running around and playing. 

 

I made a cake for Kyle with all his favorite things -- an airplane, a helicopter, a train and a car. He loved it!

It was a challenge to keep the candles lit with the wind blowing, but we did it!

After cake, the kids played some more and blew bubbles. 

After the party, we went home to open presents and eat lunch. I thought for sure the kids would want to stay home the rest of the day to play with all the new toys, but they wanted to go to another park. We headed to the duck pond to feed the ducks and then play on the playground. The ducks weren't there but there were plenty of geese and turtles!

Later in the day, Kyle and I went to his friend's birthday party. He shares the same birthday with one of his best friends. It was a busy and fun-filled day!

An Early Birthday Celebration for Makena

Makena's birthday was over Spring Break, so she got to celebrate it early at school. On Friday afternoon, Daddy, Mommy and Kyle brought a birthday snack and shared them with her friends. Makena got to pick two friends to be with her as everyone sang Happy Birthday. She was a little uncomfortable with all eyes on her!

That evening, ten of Makena's friends came over to the house for her party. I let Makena invite ten friends because I thought a lot of them wouldn't be able to come because it was the start of spring break. I was wrong. She was thrilled that everyone was able to come. 

The girls arrived in their pajamas for dinner and a movie. We started out by making butterfly wands. 

Then we ate pizza and carrots for dinner. 

  

After dinner, Makena opened up her gifts.

The girls ate popcorn and watched Little Mermaid: Return to the Sea. It didn't last long as most wanted to go upstairs to play. The girls went back and forth between the movie and playing the rest of the night. Everyone had a great time!

Class Holiday Parties

The girls had their class parties at school the last full day before Christmas break. Makena's class played a couple games, had a fun snack, and worked on a craft. 

They also had a gift exchange. The kids made a list of what they thought their class needs -- more Legos, dress up clothes, smelly markers, etc. Each child brings in a gift and then they draw numbers to open the gifts. The kids loved seeing all the new things for their classroom. 

They even had a visit from Santa (but everyone knew it was Alyssa's Dad!). 

I loved that Karis' classroom is right across the hall so that I could bounce back and forth between the two parties. Karis worked on a craft, played a game and also had a yummy snack. 

A fun way to end the week and celebrate the Christmas holiday!

Karis' Birthday Party

Karis couldn't wait to celebrate with her friends! It took awhile for her to decide what she actually wanted to do for her party, but once she decided, she was super excited. She invited five girlfriends from school to the house on Friday evening for pizza, ice cream sundaes and a movie. Since she was now a big girl, I told her she could have soda at her party. She couldn't wait!

She asked her friends to come in their pajamas and she gave each one a tiara. It was like a princess slumber party but everyone goes home at 8!

Unfortunately two of the girls were sick that day and left school early. Karis still had a great time with her three friends. It was hard to get them to sit down and eat because they just wanted to play. 

After dinner, Karis opened her presents. She received a Shopkins board game so the girls played that for awhile. 

Then they made ice cream sundaes and we sang Happy Birthday to the birthday girl. 

We popped popcorn and the girls watched Cinderella III. 

It was a fun, stress-free party with very little work on my part. I hope all her future parties are this easy!
