Post Easter Fun

With a busy weekend, working some consulting hours and the incessant asking for candy, I didn't have time or the energy to dye eggs with the kids or do our own egg hunt at home over the weekend. I took a couple days to recover and on Tuesday after school we finally dyed eggs! 

 

After we dyed the eggs, I hid some plastic eggs upstairs. It was the girls' hardest egg hunt since I color coded them and hid the girls' eggs in hard to find spots. They were rewarded for their efforts!

I love the little things that they enjoy and I hope some of theses memories will last. At dinner that evening, Makena prayed and thanked God for "the egg hunt mommy made." That fills my bucket!

More Easter Fun

On Easter weekend, we took the kids to our city's Eggstravaganza. It felt like the whole city was there! This time, Karis did an egg hunt by herself while Makena and Kyle were in the younger age bracket for the egg hunt. The kids got lots more candy (Mommy boos, kids cheer!). 

After Karis did her egg hunt, I asked her if she wanted to climb the wall. To no surprise, she said yes. After waiting in a long line, she was all strapped up and ready to go. 

She looked so tiny compared to the wall the and the big boys climbing it. 

She climbed up like a champ! She struggled in a couple spots because her little legs could barely stretch to reach the next knot. 

 She made it to the top and rang the bell!

On Easter Sunday, the girls and I served in the 2-year old class. The kids did another egg hunt and then we all went to service together (even Kyle!). He is Risen!

After church, our friends invited us to their house for lunch and another egg hunt. 

I wonder if any other kids do what Karis does .... She opens her eggs to see what's inside, but makes sure they all go back in the same eggs they came from!

And finally, we went home so Lindsay and Jamie could come hang out with the kids before Lindsay went back to school. They came with birthday gifts for the girls and even a couple things for Kyle. They played their new Shopkins game and then it was time to say good-bye. 

Easter Egg Fun

We took the kids to the Lewisville Funny Bunny event. It was a small event that wasn't too crowded but was plenty fun for the kids. There was face painting, a few games with prizes and candy, and a great egg hunt. 

There was a huge bubble blowing machine and Daddy and Kyle tried to catch some.

The egg hunt for the older kids was on a large field. Most of the kids were on the other side so the girls pretty much had half of a baseball field all to themselves.

 

They filled their buckets quickly and were done!

Daddy took Kyle to the younger kids' egg hunt. He coached Kyle and told him to run to the outskirts away from the other kids (parents weren't allowed in at the start of the hunt). He did it and came away with a bucket full of eggs. He even threw some out at the end because it was too full. 

Before we left, the kids hopped on a little train ride. So fun!

Easter Weekend and the Stomach Flu

The Thursday before Easter, Karis woke up in the early morning with the stomach flu. For the next five days, she experienced vomitting, fever and diarrhea. I had never seen her so sick! The first couple days she barely got off the couch. The two little ones spent most of those days playing outside so thankfully no one else caught what she had. 

Sadly, Karis missed her school egg hunt and an Easter egg hunt we've been taking the kids to at a local church. On Sunday morning, when I told her we weren't going to church, she was heartbroken that she would miss another egg hunt. I set up her own egg hunt upstairs to help make her feel better. 

On Saturday, she started getting up and around so we dyed some Easter eggs. Kyle just plopped his eggs in, pulled them out and then played with the colored water.Not surprisingly, Karis spent the most time with her eggs getting them the right shade and such. It was good to see her finally feeling better but it wasn't until Tuesday when she would return to school.

Easter Fun

Last Saturday, we took the kids to a local church's Easter event. We were all excited to spend some family time together. Daddy worked a lot this past week in preparation for Easter, so we didn't spend as much time with him as we would have liked. 

Kyle participated in his first egg hunt. He was excited to pick up eggs and fill his bag (I forgot to bring the kids' Easter baskets!). He didn't even know the eggs were filled with candy!

I loved how someone shared with the kids the Easter story before the egg hunt. They used Resurrection eggs and Makena got to open the last egg. It was empty -- He is risen!

It was a very windy day, so the girls' hair covered their faces in all their pictures of the egg hunt.

Afterwards, the girls did a scavenger hunt and got to take home a prize.

There was a small petting zoo at the event and that was our first stop. Makena was disappointed that there weren't any bunnies. Right before we left, I found out they had a bunny inside the church. She loved it and now wants a pet bunny. Look at that face!

There were also crafts, popcorn and bounce houses. I love taking the kids to small events like these. They have a blast and we don't have to drive far, fight crowds or pay a lot of money. It was perfect!
